MANILA, Philippines – In response to the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Carina, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended emergency cash assistance to over 62,000 families under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, representing the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), emphasized the department’s commitment to long-term recovery:
“Following the directive of our President, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we must go beyond just distributing relief goods during and after a typhoon. It is equally important that we continue monitoring and supporting affected families until they fully recover.”
This initiative is part of the government's efforts to provide immediate relief and promote recovery for those severely affected by natural disasters.
