The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Tuesday, August 7, said the target public registration date for the Philippine national ID is on the last quarter of 2018.

PSA spokesperson Lady Tuble said that the registration will be free-of-charge except to those who are considered “resident alien”.

“Gusto po namin ma-launch ang registration, fourth quarter of this year. Wala pong bayad sa initial registration. Lahat po ng magre-register ay for free except ‘yung resident alien. Hindi pa po namin nadi-discuss kung magkano bayad ng renewal,” Tuble told Super Radyo dzBB.

Tuble explained that the national ID will unify government IDs such as PhilHealth, GSIS, Pag-ibig, SSS, NBI, TIN, postal ID, barangay, and voter’s ID. Driving license and passports.

PSA, alongside other government agencies and local government units (LGUs), will set-up registration venues for those who want to avail of the ID. Tuble encouraged all Filipinos, including OFWs, to register for the ID but clarified that it is not mandatory.

Among the benefits of the national ID include:
– The ID will serve as an official government-issued identification document
– It can be used when applying for a passport and driver’s license
– It will reduce the cost of having to apply for multiple valid IDs
– It can be used for voting registration and identification
– Opening bank accounts and tax-related transactions

Those who will register for the national ID will be given a Common Reference Number (CRN) with their personal information including their full name, sex, blood type, date of birth, place of birth, marital status, address, and a front facing photo.

DSWD SECRETARY: Rex Gatchalian   The Department of Social Welfare and Development ( DSWD ) is actively disbursing cash aid to sari-sari store owners and micro rice retailers as part of their commitment to support businesses affected by the rice price ceiling implemented nationwide. Marcos Jr.'s directive to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, urging assistance for small business owners grappling with losses due to the implementation of Executive Order No. 39 in 2023.
