Ipinahayag ang impormasyong ito ni Colonel Medel Aguilar, tagapagsalita ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas (AFP), sa isang press conference na ginanap sa Lungsod ng Quezon noong Lunes kasama ang Kagawaran ng Ugnayang Panlabas. Kaniya ring ipinaabot sa mga reporter na wala nang kailangang detalye, ngunit sa halip, ang pangunahing layunin ay tiyakin ang lahat na ang mga pagsusumikap na ito ay para lamang sa pagmamantini ng sasakyang pandagat. Tinukoy ni Aguilar na ang mga materyales ay pangunahing para sa pagmamantini at pag-aayos ng pasilidad at sasakyang pandagat. DSWD Extends SLP Cash aid to Sari-sari stores and Micro rice retailers.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is actively disbursing cash aid to sari-sari store owners and micro rice retailers as part of their commitment to support businesses affected by the rice price ceiling implemented nationwide. This initiative is in direct response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, urging assistance for small business owners grappling with losses due to the implementation of Executive Order No. 39 in 2023.

The distribution of cash assistance is concurrently taking place in the Cagayan Valley Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and MIMAROPA Region. Over 800 small-scale business owners involved in rice trading and selling are benefiting from the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP)-cash aid.


Within the CAR, 116 rice retailers and sari-sari store owners from various provinces are expected to receive SLP-cash assistance. Additionally, in Marinduque, five micro-rice retailers have met the criteria for this financial support.

Separately, in the provinces of Batanes and Cagayan, approximately 680 sari-sari store owners and micro rice retailers have received Php 15,000 each. This financial aid is intended to alleviate the financial strain caused by the price caps specified in Executive Order No. 39, which set the price limit at P41 per kilo for regular-milled rice and P45 per kilo for well-milled rice.


The continuous disbursement of cash assistance underscores the government's commitment to supporting small businesses and mitigating the economic impact of the price ceiling on rice.

HIGHLIGHTS 

The (DSWD) is delivering ongoing SLP-cash aid to sari-sari store owners and micro rice retailers, in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to support small businesses affected by rice price caps set by Executive Order No. 39 of 2023. Cash aid is being distributed across Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and (MIMAROPA) Region, benefiting over 800 business owners in the rice trading industry. CAR sees 116 beneficiaries, while Marinduque has five micro-rice retailers eligible for assistance. In Batanes and Cagayan, 680 sari-sari store owners and micro rice retailers each received Php 15,000 to mitigate the impacts of the price rice cap.
